1.1 Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 It is the responsibility of all staff to adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995. This is legislation dealing with workplace health and safety in Queensland. The Act sets out the health and safety obligations of people at work. The legal concept of 'Duty of Care' is central to the Act. It requires employers, workers and other people in the workplace to take adequate care to ensure healthy and safe work practices. 1.2 Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator/Representative/Committees The Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator for Royal Children's Hospital is: Craig COUSAR 3636 8164 The Workplace Health and Safety Representative for SASVRC is: Boris POLAK 3636 8717 The Safety Committee for SASVRC is determined by the Director, and meets usually biennially. The Safety Committee usually consists of the SASVRC Safety Officer, the Centre Manager, the Technical Officer, the Radiation Safety Officer and a laboratory representative. The SASVRC Safety Committee performs the following functions:
1.3 Inspection procedures An
ongoing program to review safe operations and equipment is in the control
of the Fire Safety and Security Department. They regularly check fire-fighting
equipment, fire alarms and fire detectors. |
